Do you know that
the $1500
Federal Tax
Credit for High Efficiency HVAC systems
will expire at
the end of the year?
Do you support
HARDI’s petition to extend the
Residential
Energy Efficiency Tax Credit?
Background:
In February of 2009,
the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA)
modified and expanded the tax credits available to
homeowners who make qualified energy efficiency improvement
to their primary residences including the installation of
95% AFUE gas furnaces, 16 SEER, 13 EER central air
conditioners, and 15 SEER, 12.5 EER, and 8.5 HSPF split air
source heat pumps.
Recommendation:
These tax credits will
expire the end of 2010 and need to be extended to spur
continued recovery and growth. Homeowners remain strapped
and consumer financing options are limited so every
incentive possible is needed to help installations of the
most efficient, energy-saving HVAC systems. We recommend
that these tax credits be extended to non-residential
customers such as the thousands of small businesses that
rely on residential-type heating and cooling equipment for
their stores and offices.
Call to Action:
We
urge Congress to extend the 25C residential energy tax
credits for two years and to expand access to these tax
credits to small businesses that use the same qualifying
HVAC systems in commercial settings.
